• Service alterations

If you’re thinking of building a new extension or maybe redesigning your kitchen, or you can’t access the emergency control valve (ECV), you may want to move your gas meter and/or your existing service pipe. We’re unable to maintain your meter or send bills for the gas you use, as that’s your gas supplier's responsibility.

Moving your smart meter may incur a charge. For information, please visit our smart meter page.

Please look through the following information and our Connections guides  page carefully before starting your application. It will save you time, especially if you haven't applied for a service alteration before.

If you can’t access your meter or emergency control valve because of some kind of physical impairment, we may be able to move your meter for free. This scheme is only for customers who are either pensioners, registered disabled or chronically sick. Our Customer Service team will be able to help if you think you may qualify.
