We operate over 74,000km of gas mains and services in Scotland and the south of England.

If your property doesn’t have a gas connection and you want to be connected to our gas network, you can apply to SGN for a new connection.

If you want to move your gas meter and/or existing gas pipe, or upgrade your existing connection, this is called a service alteration.

Where a gas supply is no longer needed, for example if a property is being demolished, we offer an isolation service where the existing gas supply is safely disconnected at the main.

You can find out more under SGN connections.

If you and your neighbours don't have gas in your area, we may be able to extend the pipes to bring you all onto our network. This is known as an infill project.

We have a meter asset management service and our engineers may be carrying out your local policy meter replacements.

SGN is a gas distribution company. We don't maintain your meter or send bills for the gas you use in your property. That's your gas supplier's responsibility.

  • We manage the gas network throughout Scotland and the south of England. To see if  SGN is your network operator, type your postcode into the box below:

Yes, this postcode is within our operating regions.

The property is outside of SGN's operating regions but energynetworks.org may help you identify the right contact.

Please note that this check only informs you if SGN covers your postcode area, it does not inform you if there are gas assets at your location, in particular if you are on or near the boundary. Before starting any work please contact the SGN plant protection team on 0800 912 1722 or email plantlocation@sgn.co.uk.
