We're investing £595,000 to upgrade our gas network in the Burnfoot Road area of Hawick.
This work involves replacing our old metal gas mains and service pipes with new plastic pipe, ensuring a continued safe and reliable gas supply to the local community for many years to come.
We've planned our work in close consultation with the local authorities to reduce disruption as much as possible. Our project will begin on Tuesday 4 May and will be carried out in phases, taking approximately 37 weeks to complete.
The first phase of our project begin in Hillend Drive on 4 May. Over a 12 week period the road will be closed at its junctions with Charles Street, Galalaw Road and Fraser Avenue at separate times to allow our engineers to work safely.
Throughout our project, it will be necessary to implement road closures and use temporary traffic lights to ensure everyone's safety while we work. We'll keep you updated here as we move through each stage of our project. The map below shows where we will be working during each phase.
From 9am on Monday 10 May, we'll need to close Hillend Drive at its junction with Charles Street for approximately three weeks. Due to this closure, the three bus stops in Hillend Drive (opposite number 33, and outside numbers 110 and 158) will be temporarily closed. During this time, the alternative bus stop to use will be the existing bus stop at the top of Fraser Avenue.
We'll be working as quickly as possible to complete our work, and will be making every effort to minimise inconvenience to the local community.
