H100 Fife Barbecue
Hundreds of families across Fife attended our hog-tastic hydrogen powered barbecue event at Buckhaven Braes on Sunday 13 August. The event was organised by our H100 Fife project which is running a world-first green hydrogen trial in the area.
Fife singing sensation Cammy Barnes, who grew up in Methil, joined local Councillor Colin Davidson on stage to kick things off. While yummy barbecue grub from the Spitting Pig, including pulled-pork rolls and halloumi and veg skewers, kept bellies full throughout.

Event organiser and H100 Fife Project Marketing Manager Eilidh Graham said: “We’re overjoyed with the turn out and would like to thank all of the organisations and individuals who helped make this an unforgettable occasion.
“We’re so proud of the pioneering work we’re doing in this amazing community and everyone in Levenmouth should be proud of the part they’re playing in our world-first project. We can’t thank you enough for your patience and support while we work hard in your streets to get our network up and running.”
The barbecue was powered completely by hydrogen energy and jam packed with entertainment. Breakfast hosts Dave and Vanessa from Kingdom FM entertained guests all day with tunes, games and a lottery with some fantastic prizes. The girls from The Glamour Dance School (pictured below) showed off their amazing moves with some contemporary dance routines. Local piper Joe Townsley also wowed guests with a brilliant bagpiping performance.
There was so much to do for the young ones too, including football training, an obstacle course and free balloons from Cobblers the Clown – even Pikachu made an appearance!

Guests also visited over 30 stalls in our marquee to find out about key local projects in the community including Levenmouth Youth Taskforce, Fifers for the Community, Leven Programme, The Stand and Levenmouth Rail Campaign. There were also stalls selling local treats and crafts including Bead Buddies, Jake Street Food and Scallywags in Scone.

Our H100 Fife project will use green hydrogen made by electrolysing water using renewable electricity from an offshore wind turbine. The hydrogen will be distributed to 300 homes using a brand-new gas network that we're constructing right now.
