We're carrying out essential gas network upgrades along A259 South Coast Road at Telscombe Cliffs. This work will ensure a continued safe and reliable supply of gas is delivered to nearby homes and businesses.
Working to keep you safe and warm
What we're doing
We'll be replacing our old metal pipes in the A259 South Coast Road area. This is part of our 30-year programme of work to replace our old mains, reaching the end of their useful lives, with new, reliable plastic pipe.
When we're working
Our work will start on Monday 7 September and be carried out in six phases to help minimise disruption. This project is expected to finish in May 2027.
Temporary traffic measures in place
To safely access and replace our pipes, we'll need to implement some traffic measures around our site.
Signed diversions will be in place for any roads we need to close to complete our work.
Where possible, we'll keep traffic flowing in both directions along the A259 without the need for traffic lights by suspending the bus lane.

We recognise roadworks can be frustrating. However, the new plastic pipe has a lifespan of 80 years. This means that once our essential upgrade project is complete, Telscombe residents and businesses will be able to enjoy the benefits of a safe and reliable gas supply for many years to come.
Additional work is being planned further along the A259 at Peacehaven. Details of this work will be published on our website once confirmed.
