ALIenergy
Why we’re working together
Scottish residents in remote, rural and island communities are more likely to face fuel poverty than the average Scottish household, according to the Scottish Government.
Remote communities across northwest Scotland – particularly those in Oban, Campbeltown, Thurso, Wick and Stornoway – face significant challenges in maintaining safe and warm homes. Energy inefficient homes, lack of mainstream support and limited digital connectivity all create barriers to using energy safely, efficiently and affordably.
We’ve partnered with ALIenergy to create a sustainable pathway to long-term energy security for vulnerable households living across Argyll & Bute and Highland, with support from Tighean Innse Gall in Stornoway.
Together, we’re improving access to energy advice and safeguarding through home visits, community outreach and telephone services. We’re also improving long-term financial resilience for Highlands and Islands residents through income maximisation support.
What we’re achieving together
- Providing personalised energy efficiency and safeguarding advice
- Ensuring immediate support for households in energy crisis
- Supporting eligible households to sign up for the Priority Services Register
- Raising awareness of carbon monoxide safety
- Maximising household incomes for remote, rural and island communities
How to get involved
Accessing the Highlands and Islands Affordable Warmth service
As one of our Safe & Warm community partners, you can refer Argyll & Bute or Highland residents to the Highlands and Islands Affordable Warmth service through ALIenergy’s online referral form. Stornoway residents can be referred to Tighean Innse Gall.
If you live in Argyll & Bute, Highland or Western Isles and think you may benefit from this service, you can request an energy advice session by completing the online referral form.
