Our people

Our commitment to people

Our people are at the heart of our success. We are dedicated to creating an inclusive and supportive environment where everyone can thrive, feel valued and contribute their best.

By embracing diversity, investing in development and promoting wellbeing, we empower our workforce to demonstrate their talents and reach their potential. This not only strengthens our organisation but also ensures we continue to deliver for our stakeholders with skill, care and professionalism.

Championing skills for the future

Our Head of Talent & Early Careers Michael Gillies was appointed to the Scottish Apprenticeship Advisory Board this year. He’ll help influence apprenticeship policy, champion high-quality training, and bring frontline insight into Scotland’s skills agenda – reinforcing SGN’s dedication to investing in the next generation of engineers and technicians.

We’ve demonstrated strong commitment to earn-and-learn pathways, with 5.5% of our colleagues now in apprenticeships,  graduate programmes or trainee roles. Over the past year we delivered 40 apprenticeship and learning opportunities.

Our new national training centre in Glasgow has been purpose built to empower our frontline workforce with the skills, confidence and capability needed for a changing energy landscape. Earlier this year we were delighted to welcome Energy Minister Michael Shanks to officially open the facility, which he said would equip the next generation of Scottish engineers with the skills to power Britain.
