Renewing our business

Investing in our future

Delivering a safe, reliable and resilient gas network requires more than maintaining our infrastructure – it means investing in the people, skills, technology and workplaces that will power our performance for decades to come.

As we enter RIIO-GD3, we plan to invest more than £4 billion across our network, supporting the continued delivery of safe and dependable gas supplies to millions of homes and businesses. This investment will strengthen national resilience through targeted upgrades and maintenance, enhancing safety, reliability and operational integrity while helping to secure the UK's future energy needs.

Our network will play a vital role in the transition to a lower-carbon energy system. By enabling the growth of biomethane and hydrogen, RIIO-GD3 will help diversify energy sources, improve energy security and reduce reliance on imported fuels. We are also preparing for changing customer demands, supporting industrial and commercial growth by improving network access and facilitating the integration of greener gases.

Investing in our people

Alongside investment in our network, we continue to invest in our people. We’ll recruit and train more than 50 apprentices each year, building the skills needed to deliver the energy transition and support long-term economic growth. Our new national Training Centre is already helping colleagues develop the expertise required for the future, with more than 823 employees trained since opening.

We’re also transforming how we work to deliver greater value for customers. Over the past year, we have accelerated our transformation programme through new technology platforms, centralised support functions, regional restructuring, investment in our property portfolio and the creation of a dedicated Shared Services Centre.

Modern workplaces are an important part of this journey. During 2025/26, we invested more than £18 million across our estate, creating efficient, fit-for-purpose environments that help our people perform at their best. By the end of RIIO-GD3, our estate will reduce from 68 to 53 assets, creating a streamlined, sustainable and future-ready portfolio while ensuring we continue to deliver excellent service and value for money for customers.
