Glasgow, Clarkston area

We’re replacing existing metal gas mains and services with modern plastic pipe to ensure the Clarkston area in Glasgow continues to receive a safe and reliable gas supply for many years to come.

We’re committed to upgrading our network to ensure we continue to keep homes and businesses safe and warm long into the future. We’re using the latest technology to minimise disruption as we replace our pipes in the community.

This essential work forms part of an ongoing mains replacement programme developed with the Health and Safety Executive. Following discussions with East Renfrewshire Council, our project will begin on Monday 31 March and last until November 2025.

We’ll be working in the following streets.

Most of our work won’t need any temporary traffic lights or road closures and can be completed with minimal disruption using give and take traffic management.

However, we will need to use temporary traffic lights in the following roads and junctions:

  • Kirkpatrick Gardens / Atholl Drive
  • Greenwood Road / Mearns Road
  • Mearns Road
  • Vadar Avenue
  • Eastwoodmains Road

The traffic lights will only be used when necessary and are not required for the entire project.

We understand roadworks can be frustrating. However, the new plastic pipe has a lifespan of 80 years. This means that once our work is done, residents and businesses will be able to enjoy the benefits of a safe and reliable supply of gas for many years to come.
