Chris Murray MBE appointed as independent non-executive director at SGN

SGN has announced the appointment of Chris Murray as an independent non-executive director.

Chris has over 45 years of experience in the UK energy sector, encompassing gas and electricity transmission and distribution.

He has served as CEO on three separate occasions and also held senior leadership roles across network operations, asset management, health & safety, and customer engagement. His remit has spanned regulation, commercial strategy, change and stakeholder management.  

Chris also has more than 25 years of experience advising boards as a non-executive director. He currently chairs both Water Resources South-East and Northern Powergrid’s Independent Stakeholder Group. He previously chaired National Grid Gas plc, National Grid Electricity plc and National Grid Gas Holdings.

In addition, he’s a trustee for the MS Society and the Leicestershire Hospice and was awarded an MBE in recognition of his contributions to skills development and charitable causes.
