Loss of gas supplies, Kincardine

Date:
15 Oct 2024

Wednesday 16 October - 8.45am update

Our work progressed well through the night and, all being well, we are hoping to begin reconnecting gas supplies to properties later today.

Please do not try to turn on your own gas supply. We will visit you to carry out essential safety checks and reconnect you.

There are approximately 30 homes which we've not been able to gain access to. It's really important that we get access as soon as possible, to turn off their gas supplies at the meter. We are re-visiting these properties this morning.

If you were out when our engineer tried to visit, please call us on 0800 912 1717 and we will quickly re-visit you.

Our Customer Service team are back at the Kincardine Community Centre today. Please head along to see them if you require support or have any questions.

We'll post another update on our progress by 2pm.

Tuesday 15 October - 5.30pm update

Our engineers remain on site and an emergency repair to our gas main has begun.

Whilst this work is taking place, we are continuing to visit each affected property individually to turn off the gas supply at the meter.

We have now called at the majority of homes and are currently re-visiting those where there was no answer.

Once our repair is completed, we will be able to begin restoring gas supplies.

It’s currently too early to say when that will be, however we’ll continue to keep you updated here.

Our Customer Service team will be at the Kincardine Community Centre until 9pm. Please head along to see them if you require support or have any questions.

We’ll post another update tomorrow by 11am.

Tuesday 15 October - 12.30pm update

Gas supplies to approximately 1,290 properties in the Kincardine area of Fife have been affected due to damage on our gas network.

Our specialist team of engineers are currently investigating the cause and assessing the damage.

We will now be visiting all affected properties to turn off their gas supplies at the meter - please wait for one of our engineers and do not try to do this yourself. If you smell gas at any time, indoors or outdoors, please call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 right away.

It is important that you do not try to use your gas supply at this time.

We will shortly be opening a Customer Centre at Kincardine Community Centre, Anderson Lane. Our Customer Service Team will be there from 1pm to offer support and answer any questions you have.

We'll post a further update on our progress at 5.30pm today.

Tuesday 15 October - 10.45am update

We are aware that a number of gas supplies have been lost to properties in the Kincardine area of Fife.

Our engineers are on site to establish the cause and the extent of the issue.

It’s currently too difficult to estimate how long it will take to restore gas supplies to affected homes and businesses, but we will update our website throughout the day as soon as new information becomes available.

We apologise for the inconvenience this will cause to those affected. Please be assured we are working as hard as we can to resolve the situation as soon as possible.

If you registered for the Priority Services Register (PSR), our Customer Service Team will contact you soon to ensure you are supported during your time without gas.
