We are now reconnecting gas supplies to most of the affected properties.

Our emergency repairs are going well but our work isn't yet complete, meaning we are unable to currently reinstate gas supplies to numbers 523-481 and 496-532 Reading Road. We will provide an update on our progress later this evening.

Wednesday 16 October - 12 noon update

Our engineers are continuing our urgent work to restore gas supplies to approximately 300 properties in Winnersh.

Throughout last night and this morning we've visited everyone affected to turn off their gas supplies at the meter. There are approximately nine homes which we've not been able to gain access to. It's really important that we get access as soon as possible, to turn off their gas supplies at the meter. If you were out when our engineer tried to visit, please call us on 0800 912 1717 and we will re-visit you as soon as possible.

Work to repair the fault is also ongoing. We won't be in a position to restore gas to all homes and businesses affected until this work is complete. It's still too early to say at this stage when that will be.

Winnersh residents will see a large presence from our engineers on site today, working hard to ensure we can complete this work as quickly as possible. Please take extra care around any excavations and barriers which are there for your safety.

Please remember that if you do smell gas at any time, indoors or outdoors, you must call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 right away.

Electric hot plates and cooking appliances are still available at 613 Reading Road for those who are elderly, disabled, chronically sick or have young children or other special needs.

We'll provide an update on our progress at around 4pm today.

Tuesday 15 October - 5.30pm update

Work to establish the cause of the loss of gas supply in the area is ongoing.

In the meantime, we've been able to visit the majority of all affected properties individually to turn off the gas supply at the meter.

It is essential that we gain access to your gas meter. If your meter is indoors, and you were out when our engineer tried to visit, please call us on 0800 912 1717 and we will re-visit you as soon as possible.

Once we have turned off supplies to all affected properties and repaired the fault, we will be in a position to begin restoring gas to all homes and businesses.

It’s still too early to say when this will be, however we’ll keep you updated on our progress.

Electric hot plates and cooking appliances are available for those who are elderly, disabled, chronically sick or have young children or other special needs.

These are available from our incident vehicle which is located at 613 Reading Road.

We'll provide another update here tomorrow at 11am.
