Our Chief Executive Officer Mark Wild OBE has been welcomed as a new Companion to the Institute of Gas Engineers & Managers (IGEM).

Mark received the honour from our Head of Network Strategy and current IGEM President Andrew Musgrave ahead of the recent IGEM/EUA Awards. The annual ceremony celebrates the industry's very best individuals, companies and projects. We were also recognised with the Customer Service Award at this year's event in London.

IGEM is the professional engineering institution for gas and serves people and organisations connected to the UK's gas industry. It aims to support those involved with gas to achieve and maintain the highest standards of professional competence.

After presenting certificates to Mark and fellow new Companion Jon Butterworth, from National Gas, Andrew outlined his three main aspirations for his year as President: to ensure the natural gas system remains safe, secure, and sustainable; to engage IGEM’s Sections, Young Persons Network and Company Members to develop their events calendars and bolstering the industry’s efforts to promote equality, diversity and inclusion.

Having started his career as a technical trainee on finishing school, Andrew worked his way through the ranks to become responsible for SGN's engineering policies and procedures while also overseeing our network’s strategic investment plans.
