A meeting space in Bedhampton Community Centre has been given a fresh new look, thanks to a team of six volunteers from SGN.

SGN colleagues with Bedhampton Community Centre Manager Hayley Gillians
The colleagues, who all work out of SGN’s Operations Control Centre (OCC) in Drayton, spent a day repainting and carrying out maintenance tasks at the centre. Their efforts were part of SGN’s Community Action Programme, which allows employees to volunteer one working day each year to support local charities and organisations.
The initiative was organised by SGN’s Head of OCC, Ellen Bates, whose family regularly attends the centre.
Ellen said:
“The centre is used for everything from dance clubs and shows to wedding receptions and birthday parties. It’s fantastic to see so many people enjoying the space, but of course, this does take its toll on the décor.
“I know how much time, coordination and cost it takes to keep the centre looking its best, so when I mentioned it to colleagues, they were all keen to get involved. We worked hard to make the most of the day and were thrilled with what we achieved. It was rewarding and a great team-building effort.”
Centre Manager Hayley Gillians expressed her gratitude to the SGN team and said:
“We are so grateful for the SGN team’s support and are delighted with the result. The hall now feels clean, fresh and versatile – perfect for bookings this autumn.
“As a small, not-for-profit charity, support like this makes a huge difference. On behalf of everyone who uses the centre, I’d like to say a heartfelt thank you.”
