Positive Action in Housing’s ‘Save Energy, Stay Warm’ initiative, in partnership with SGN, has won Best Partner Relationship – Corporate Fundraising at the Scottish Fundraising Awards 2025.

The award recognises a partnership delivering energy advice and support to some of Glasgow’s most vulnerable households, including refugees, Black and Minority Ethnic communities and EU migrants in the city’s most deprived areas. The project is designed to offer a lifeline to families struggling to maintain a safe and warm home, and empower people to use energy safely, efficiently and affordably.

The 21-month initiative will reach more than 1,900 households.

Through one-to-one advice, group workshops and direct referrals, the project helps eligible people access key support services including the Priority Services Register as well as tailored advice to better understand their energy use, manage bills and access financial support – reducing fuel poverty and improving wellbeing.

Our partnership with Positive Action in Housing reflects our ongoing commitment to supporting inclusive, community-led partnerships that help people maintain a safe and warm home, making a real difference in people’s lives.

Margaret Hamilton, Community Partnership Manager at SGN, said: “We’re proud to be partnering with Positive Action in Housing to deliver this vital energy safeguarding service to households across Glasgow. The team is witnessing firsthand the profound impact the cost-of-living crisis is having on vulnerable communities. Together we’re supporting households ahead of winter to use energy safely, efficiently and affordably, while building a wider network of partners to tackle fuel poverty and the complex challenges these households face.”

Sraboni Bhattacharya, Head of Financial Inclusion at Positive Action in Housing, said: “This partnership has been a lifeline for many families and individuals struggling to make ends meet. By combining our community reach with SGN’s resources and expertise, we’re helping vulnerable households stay warm and lower their bills. This award shows the power of collaboration in tackling fuel poverty.”

The partnership is supported through our Vulnerability and Carbon Monoxide Allowance (VCMA) fund, which enables gas networks to work with community organisations on initiatives that promote energy safety, affordability and inclusion.
