We're upgrading our gas network in the Long Lane area of Bexleyheath.
This essential work involves replacing our old metal mains with new plastic pipe. Our network upgrades will ensure local properties continue to receive a safe and reliable supply of gas.
This work started on Monday 7 April and is expected to last approximately two weeks. We've agreed with the local authority to carry this out during the school Easter holidays, when the roads are typically quieter, to help minimise disruption.
Long Lane will be closed between its junctions with Rydal Drive and Cloudesley Road. Access will be maintained for residents within the closure area, but all other motorists need to follow our signed diversion route.
Our engineers will also be working in nearby Bedonwell Road, but this will remain open to road users.
We understand roadworks can be frustrating. However, the new plastic pipe we're installing has a lifespan of over 80 years, which means Bexleyheath residents and businesses can enjoy the benefits of a safe and reliable gas supply for many years to come.
