Bognor Regis, North Bersted Street

We’re preparing to carry out essential gas network upgrades along North Bersted Street in Bognor Regis. This work will ensure a continued safe and reliable supply of gas is delivered to nearby homes and businesses and is part of our 30-year programme of work to replace our old mains, reaching the end of their useful lives, with new, reliable plastic pipe.

Our contractor, JB Utilities, is completing this project on our behalf and will be starting on Monday 5 January. We expect this project to last for approximately 18 weeks.

Work will start at the junction with the B2259 Chichester Road and progress along the full length of North Bersted Street. For everyone’s safety, the road will be closed around our excavation sites between the junctions of Chichester Road and Rowan Way. This will be a rolling closure, moving along the street as our engineers install the new pipework.

A signed diversion route will be in place via Rowan Way, A259 Gladius Way, and B2259 Chichester Road.

  • Vehicle access: Residents within the closure points will still be able to access their properties. Our site team will keep you updated on any changes to local access.
  • Pedestrian access: This will remain unaffected.
  • Cyclists: Please dismount and walk through the works area.
  • Bus Routes will be affected. Passengers should contact their local provider for details of changes to routes and bus stop locations.
  • Refuse collections: There will be no change to collection arrangements unless notified by Arun District Council. We’ll work with the council to ensure collections can still be made while the road is closed.

Our engineers will be happy to answer any questions during the project. We're sorry for any inconvenience our work may cause and thank the Bognor Regis community for their patience and understanding while we carry out these essential upgrades.
