Update - Thursday 6 August
Our engineers are making good progress replacing our old pipes in the area. However, we now need to close a section of Hayes Lane from Sunday 9 August to safely complete the next phase of our work.
We're hopeful this work will be completed, and we can reopen the road, by Friday 21 August - ahead of Bromley Football Club's League One fixture against Cambridge United the following day.
Please note our signage does advise the closure will be in place for up to three weeks as a contingency to accommodate any unforeseen circumstances such as encountering concrete beneath the road surface.
- Motorists will be unable to Hayes Lane from Mead Way.
- Access to Bromley FC and properties on the Mead Way side of the closure will be maintained via the Bromley Common end of Hayes Lane.
- Access to the Hayes Street side of the closure will be maintained via the Pickhurst Lane end.
- Temporary traffic lights will be setup at the Norman Park entrance.
- Bus services will be affected by this work. Please check with your provider for updates to routes, stops and timetables while the road is closed.
The temporary traffic lights currently in place around our site on Hayes Lane will be removed late on Saturday 8 August and will be reinstalled once the closure is lifted. We'll be manually controlling these lights on Saturday 8 August - when Bromley face Reading in the Carabao Cup - to help minimise disruption in the area.

We're carrying out essential gas network upgrades in the B2212 Hayes Road area. This work will ensure a continued safe and reliable supply of gas is delivered to Bromley homes and businesses.

What we're doing
We'll be replacing our old metal pipes in the area. This is part of our 30-year programme of work to replace our old mains, reaching the end of their useful lives, with new, reliable plastic pipe.
When we're working
Our work started in mid-June and the project is expected to finish at the end of August.
Where we'll be working
Our engineers are continuing to upgrade our network along B265 Hayes Lane, which began in mid-June, with temporary traffic lights in place for safety.
We're approaching the start of the next phase of work taking place in neighbouring B2212 Hayes Road. This work will start on Monday 20 July and is expected to last approximately six weeks.
To ensure everyone's safety during this next phase, B2212 Hayes Road will be closed to motorists between its junctions with B265 Hayes Lane and Cameron Road.
A signed diversion route will be in place for affected road users. Buses will be diverted around our closure too. Please check with your service provider for any updates to stops or timetables.
Access will be maintained for residents and business located within our closure area.
We understand roadworks can be frustrating. However, this work is essential to ensuring nearby properties continue to receive a safe and reliable supply of gas.
