We're carrying out essential gas network upgrades in the Sandy Lane area. This work will ensure a continued safe and reliable supply of gas is delivered to Cheam homes and businesses.
Working to keep you safe and warm
What we're doing
We'll be replacing our old metal pipes in the Sandy Lane area. This is part of our 30-year programme of work to replace our old mains, reaching the end of their useful lives, with new, reliable plastic pipe.
When we're working
Our work will start on Monday 5 January and be carried out in phases to help minimise disruption. This project is expected to finish in late April.
Where we'll be working
To ensure everyone's safety while we upgrade our network, we need to close the road to motorists around our sites in the following roads.
- Wray Road (from Mon 5 Jan for approx. one week)
- Burdon Lane (from Mon 5 Jan for approx. two weeks)
- Sandy Lane (from Mon 12 Jan for approx. 12 weeks)
- Glebe Road (from Mon 19 Jan for approx. three weeks)
- Wray Road, The Avenue and Shirley Avenue (from Mon 6 Apr for approx. three weeks)
We understand roadworks can be frustrating. However, this work is essential to ensuring nearby properties continue to receive a safe and reliable supply of gas.
