Updated - Monday 2 December
We’re continuing our work to replace our pipes in the Station Approach area after a leak was discovered on this section of our network earlier this year.
We recognise this essential work has caused significant disruption over an extended period and we’re doing everything we can to complete this complex network project as soon as we can.
To help maintain a safe and reliable gas supply to Chislehurst properties, our engineers planned to replace the affected pipes, rather than repair it when the leak was detected. However, due to the pipe's proximity to other utility pipes underground, we have been unable to replace this particular section of our network currently, and it was subsequently passed to a specialist company who are skilled to carry out the type of repair required here.
Our trench in Summer Hill was excavated last week and the stopple tee was fabricated, delivered to site and tested. This week, our engineers will be installing the stopple equipment and reducing pressures to enable the repairs to the leaking gas main here.
Temporary traffic lights remain in operation around our work area in Summer Hill. Please allow additional time for your journey. Bus services may be affected by our project - please check with your local provider on updates to stops, routes or times of buses.
We're hopeful of completing all required repairs to our gas network by the end of the month.
Update - Monday 9 December 2024
We are progressing well with our project and hope to complete our work before Christmas. We're working weekends to help make this happen.
