We’re investing £4.3 million to upgrade the gas network in north west Glasgow.
From Monday 26 January 2026, we’ll begin the third phase of critical work on Great Western Road to upgrade Glasgow’s gas network. This work is essential to ensuring a safe and reliable supply of gas continues to be delivered to homes and businesses.
The project involves upgrading our medium pressure gas main in Great Western Road to cope with future gas demand in Clydebank.
The first and second phases were carried out in February, March and April 2025 at Drumry Roundabout and in the Cleveden Road area. This third phase has now been planned in consultation with West Dunbartonshire Council and will take five weeks to complete.
Phase 3 – Kilbowie Roundabout
For five weeks from Monday 26 January 2026, lane closures will be in place at Kilbowie Roundabout affecting eastbound motorists approaching the roundabout on Great Western Road.
Our engineers will also be working in the grass verge to construct a new gas pressure reduction station.
Thank you for your patience, understanding and support as we work to improve your gas infrastructure.
