Condorrat, Main Road

We’re continuing to upgrade our gas network in Main Road, Condorrat. This essential work will ensure your local community continues to receive a safe and reliable gas supply for many years to come.

Working to keep you safe and warm

What we're doing

We're replacing our old metal pipes in the Main Road area. This is part of our 30-year programme of work to replace our old mains, reaching the end of their useful lives, with new, reliable plastic pipe.

When we're working

In agreement with North Lanarkshire Council, our project started on Monday 1 April.

We’ll be working in Main Road, Condorrat, in sections. We’ll begin from near its junction with Medrox Gardens, progressing north east up to its junction with Maree Drive, where Main Road becomes Condorrat Ring Road.

Update: Wednesday 27 November 2024

Our work to replace our gas main in Main Road, Condorrat, has been significantly delayed by engineering difficulties due to the close proximity of underground assets near our gas main.

In order to avoid additional road closures caused by this unforeseen issue, our engineers have laid sections of our new main on different sides of the road which has slowed our progress. We’d like to assure the Cumbernauld community that we’re working as quickly as we can to complete this work despite these issues and would like to thank residents, businesses and motorists for your ongoing patience and support.

Main Road

From now until Monday 10 February 2025, we’ll continue to work along Main Road, Condorrat, from number 27 down to number 2.

During this phase, our work will be paused over the festive period from Friday 20 December 2024 until Monday 6 January 2025.

We’re aiming to complete this phase under temporary traffic lights.

Medrox Gardens

Once our work in Main Road is complete, we’ll be working in Medrox Gardens from Monday 10 February for approximately five days. For safety, we’ll also need to use three-way temporary lights to complete this phase.

Commissioning works

The final work to commission the new gas main will begin on Monday 17 February and take approximately five weeks to complete. We’re aiming to complete this work without the need of any road closures or temporary traffic lights.

We understand roadworks can be frustrating. However, the new plastic pipe has a lifespan of 80 years. This means that once our work is done, Condorrat residents and businesses will be able to enjoy the benefits of a safe and reliable supply of gas for many years to come.
