13 March - UPDATE
Craiglockhart section
Our critical work to upgrade our gas network is progressing well, and we've now completed all of the Craiglockhart area section of our project.
Lanark Road section
At the request of the local authority, the Lanark Road section of our project was postponed before Christmas, to allow for road resurfacing works to take place.
Now that the council has completed the road resurfacing, our engineers can begin working on the Lanark Road section of our project.
Work will begin on phase one of this section on Monday 24 March, and we'll work through phases one-six throughout the eight-week duration.
You'll find information on where we'll be working in each phase further down this page.
We'll provide updates here as our work in the Lanark Road area progresses.
We're replacing our old metal gas mains and services with new plastic pipes, in the Lanark Road and Craiglockhart areas of Edinburgh.
This work is essential to make sure that you, your neighbours, and businesses, continue to receive a safe and reliable gas supply.
Our contractor George Ritchie will be carrying out this project on our behalf.
After close collaboration with local authorities, our project will begin Monday 14 October.
We know this is a busy area and have taken that into consideration during the planning of this critical project.
This particular location has experienced multiple gas leaks in recent years and by upgrading our pipes now, we can prevent future emergency work and disruption.
Our project will begin in the Craiglockhart area. This section should take 12 weeks to complete. We'll then move into the Lanark Road section after the New Year for approximately 8 weeks.
We advise motorists to plan ahead and allow more time for journeys, especially during peak travel times.
To help ease disruption as much as possible, our work has been split into phases, shown on the maps below.
Craiglockhart Avenue section:

Phase one
Our project will begin in Redhall House Drive. Craiglockhart Drive South will be closed for the one-week duration of this phase.
Phase 2
During the second phase of our project, which will take approximately three weeks to complete, we require three-way temporary traffic lights on Lanark Road at its junction with Craiglockhart Avenue.
Phase 3
Craiglockhart Avenue will become a one-way system during phase three of our project. This means traffic will be unable to travel northbound on the road and will be required to follow the signed diversion route via Ashley Terrace for approximately 4 weeks. Bus routes 4 & 36 will also be diverted during this phase.
Phase 4
Four-way Lights will be in place on Colinton Road and its junction with Craiglockhart Avenue for approximately two weeks during phase four.
Phase 5
For the two-week duration of our final phase, lane closures will be in place along Colinton Road as our work progresses. Temporary bus stops will be in place when required.
