On Monday 10 November SGN contractors WCB will be starting work to upgrade the gas pipes in the Russell Hill Road area of Croydon.
These essential works will involve replacing an old, metal pipe with a new longer-lasting plastic one so that we can continue to provide businesses and the wider community with a safe and efficient gas supply. Barring any engineering difficulties, the work will be complete during February.
The work will be carried out in sections, and traffic management includes:
- Monday 10 November for approximately 14 weeks - work will start along Russell Hill. During this time, Russell Hill will be open to one-way traffic to enable entry from Russell Hill Road and exit only from Plough Lane.
- Monday 10 November for approximately two weeks - our engineers will also be working along Russell Hill Road. During this time, our works are likely to be in the main carriageway and motorists are asked to give and take
- Monday 17 November for approximately four weeks – work will be moving along More Close and motorists are asked to give and take.
- Monday 8 December for approximately two weeks – to conclude the project, our engineers will be working along Plough Lane. Again, during this time our works are likely to be in the main carriageway and motorists are asked to give and take.
We are committed to minimising disruption as much as possible and will ensure:
- Pedestrian access and property access are maintained
- Local businesses and residents can continue to receive deliveries – please speak to our site team regarding any specific access arrangements
- Emergency access is preserved
