We’re upgrading our gas network in Three Road Ends area of Dumfries. This essential work needs to go ahead now to ensure your local community continues to receive a safe and reliable gas supply for many years to come.
What we're doing
We're returning to complete the replacement of our old metal pipes in the Three Road Ends area. This is part of our 30-year programme of work to replace our old mains, reaching the end of their useful lives, with new, reliable plastic pipe.
When we're working
In agreement with Dumfries and Galloway Council, our project will start on Monday 3 February 2025 and last at most approximately six weeks.
Phase One - 3-4 weeks
Temporary four-way traffic lights will be at the Three Road Ends junction where Bankend Road, Glencaple Road, Johnstone Park and Lindsay Terrace meet.
The traffic lights will be manually controlled at all times to limit disruption. We’ll also be monitoring the impact of our work in St Michael Street and adjusting phases accordingly.
The lights will be be removed on Friday 14 February over the entire weekend and then reinstalled on Monday 17 February.
Phase Two - 1 to 2 weeks
We will remove the temporary four-way traffic at the Three Road Ends junction however, and have temporary two-way traffic lights will be installed in Bankend Road at its junction with Picket Cross for two weeks.
The following Stagecoach bus services will be impacted by this work, so please look out at the Stagecoach website for the latest timetables:
- Stagecoach 5 - The Crichton
- 5a - Georgetown to Crichton
- 6 - Kingholm Quay
- 6a Glencaple/Caerlaverock
We understand roadworks can be frustrating. However, these essential gas network upgrades will ensure local residents and businesses will be able to enjoy the benefits of a safe and reliable supply of gas for many years to come.
