Greenock, Curlew Crescent

As part of our ongoing work to upgrade the gas network in Greenock, starting from 28 August, SGN contractors, Innovative Utilities, will commence a programme of work to replace the gas mains in the Curlew Crescent area. Barring any engineering difficulties, this section of work is expected to be ongoing for 12 weeks.

These essential works will involve replacing an old, metal pipe with a new longer longer-lasting plastic one so that we can continue to provide businesses and the wider community with a safe and efficient gas supply.

Due to the location of the gas pipes in the roads, and for everyone’s safety, the following traffic management will be in place:

  • Phase one - Curlew Crescent will be closed between Wren Road / Auchneagh Road to Mavis Road (28 August for two weeks)
  • Phase two - Curlew Crescent will be closed from Mavis Road to Linnet Road (15 September for two weeks)
  • Phase three - Curlew Crescent will be closed from Linnet Road to Grieve Road, whilst three-way traffic lights will be in place on Grieve Road and Bow Road (29 September for three weeks)
  • Phase four - A mix of multi-way traffic lights will be used on Grieve Road to allow us to carry out excavation work (20 October for five weeks)

Work will also be carried out in the streets surrounding Curlew Crescent.

A final stage of this project will involve working to upgrade the gas pipes on the A78 Inverkip Road, between the Lady Alice Bowling Club and the junction with Dunlop Street. This stage is still being planned with the local authorities, and an update will be provided when available.

If you have any specific questions regarding these works, please email customer@sgn.co.uk

We are sorry for the inconvenience this work will cause and thank local people for their patience and understanding.
