Update

Our team has begun work on Head Hill Road as part of our ongoing gas main replacement project.
Over the coming weeks, we’ll be replacing more than 1km of old, gas main with a new, plastic main designed to last over 80 years. To do this as quickly as possible, we're working extended hours, Monday to Friday (7am–7pm), and on Saturdays for reinstatement where needed.
We also have three traffic spotters on site to keep traffic flowing along Monks Hill, temporarily stopping larger vehicles when necessary through the narrow section.
For safety, we strongly advise drivers to use the official diversion route via Seasalter, as this will help avoid delays or congestion.
Our rolling closure will move progressively along Head Hill Road towards Whitstable Road over the next eight weeks.
We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding while we carry out these essential works to improve the local gas network.
We will shortly be returning to complete gas network upgrades along Head Hill Road in Graveney and Goodnestone.
This work is essential to ensure we can continue to provide a safe and reliable supply of gas to nearby homes and businesses and is part of our 30-year programme of work to replace our old mains, reaching the end of their useful lives, with new, reliable plastic pipe.
The project restarts on Monday 20 October and will last for approximately 9 to 10 weeks. It will be carried out by our contractor WCB Utilities on our behalf.
To ensure everyone’s safety, we’ll need to close Head Hill Road around our excavations for the duration of our work. This will be a rolling road closure which will move along the road from outside The Lodge in Goodnestone, to the Four Horseshoes Park in Graveney.
Buses are being diverted around our closure. Please see the timetable in operation during our work. Note the minibus will be operating the times highlighted in yellow.
We understand roadworks can be frustrating and we’re sorry for any inconvenience caused. This phase of work will complete all our necessary network upgrades along Head Hill Road.
The new plastic pipe has a lifespan of 80 years. This means that once our work is done, Graveney and Goodnestone residents and businesses will be able to enjoy the benefits of a safe and reliable supply of gas for many years to come.
