We're preparing to upgrade our gas network in the Bashley Common Road area of New Milton.
This essential work will involve replacing our old metal gas mains with new plastic pipe to ensure local properties continue to receive a safe and reliable gas supply.
Our engineers will start work on Monday 6 January and the project is expected to finish at the end of March 2025.
To enable us to access our underground pipes and ensure everyone remains safe, we need to close Bashley Common Road around our site.
Motorists will be unable to drive from just past the cattle grid near the Rising Sun Public House to the junction of Ossemsley South Drive/New Lane.
A signed diversion route will be in place for affected motorists via B3058 Holmsley Road, A35, B3055 Bashley Cross Road and B3058 Bashley Road.
Businesses will remain open as usual throughout our work. Access for residents and businesses located within the closure area will be maintained via the southern end of the closure (Ossemsley South Drive).
Bus routes along Bashley Common Road will be affected by this work. Please check with your provider for updates to services, stops and schedules.
Waste collection days will be unchanged unless you hear otherwise from the service provider.
We appreciate roadworks can be frustrating. However, these essential upgrades will mean New Milton residents can enjoy the benefits of a safe and reliable gas supply for many years to come.
If you'd like to hear more about our project, and discuss with our team, we're holding a drop-in session on Tuesday 3 December from 2.30pm to 7pm at St John the Baptist Church, St John's Road, BH25 5SB.
