Update - Friday 22 August
Further investigations have confirmed that we will not require a road closure on Leonard Avenue. However, to keep everyone safe while we’re working we’ll need to install four-way traffic lights from Tuesday 26 August. The traffic lights will be for Leonard Avenue, Station Road, Sevenoaks Road and High Street. We know this is a busy location and we’ll be manually controlling the traffic lights every day from 7am to 7pm to help manage the traffic flows.
Station Road will remain closed to through traffic but we’re still on track to reopen this road on Sunday 31 August. The four-way traffic lights will remain in place while we finish working on the pipes at the duck pond roundabout.
We’re pleased to be able to confirm that work is now progressing well and we expect to be able to complete work and remove all our traffic management ahead of our previously advised date of Sunday 14 September. We'll know more next week and will update the confirmed earlier completion date here as soon as we can.

We're carrying out essential upgrades to our gas network in the A225 Sevenoaks Road area. This work has been planned in close consultation with the local authority and will ensure a continued safe and reliable gas supply to nearby homes and businesses.

What we're doing
Our engineering team is replacing old metallic mains with modern plastic pipe which has a lifespan of 80 years.
When we'll be working
Our project will start on Monday 21 July and will last for approximately six weeks. This has been planned for the school summer holidays, when traffic is typically lighter, to minimise disruption.
Where we'll be working
We'll be replacing our old pipes in A225 Station Road and A225 Sevenoaks Road. These roads will be closed to motorists to ensure everyone's safety.
This work will be carried out in phases.
Phase one - A225 Station Road
- Starting Monday 21 July
- Working between its junction with High Street and the railway bridge
- Road closed for safety while we upgrade our network
- Temporary lights will also be in place at junction of High Street and A225 Sevenoaks Road from Monday 28 July
Phase two - A225 Sevenoaks Road
- Starting as soon as phase one finishes
- Working between its junction with High Street and Bubblestone Road
- Road closed for safety while we upgrade our network
Signed diversions will be in place for affected road users.
We understand roadworks can be frustrating for residents, businesses and road users. However, this essential work is being carried out to ensure a safe and reliable gas supply can be delivered to Otford properties for many years to come.
