Update: Monday 13 February 2023
We have completed our project earlier than scheduled and will not need to carry out phase three.
This essential work involves the replacement of the old, metal gas main with a new plastic pipe to ensure we can continue to provide a safe and reliable gas supply.
In agreement with East Sussex County Council, we have planned these works in three phases to reduce the impact for the local community and to support farming operations.
Due to the width and the location of the gas main in the road, we will have to close the road to through vehicle access during each phase of work.
We are replacing approximately 3km of gas main, a complex project that will take a number of months to complete.
Phase one – from Monday 3 October to Friday 2 December 2022
We’ll start work in Jevington Road at its junction with Filching Close, heading south towards Jevington to complete as much of our installation as possible.
Phase two – from Monday 2 January to Friday 3 March 2023
We’ll continue working in Jevington Road, picking up from phase one and making our way towards Jevington Village.
Phase three – from September to December 2023
We’ll need to return to complete the remainder of our work – working dates, duration and location will depend on progress made in phases one and two.
To ensure everyone’s safety, we need to temporarily close Jevington Road during each phase of our work. There will be no through vehicle access along Jevington Road and a signed diversion route will be in place. Access to properties and businesses will be maintained – local signage will advise of changing access arrangements as we progress along the road.
Bus services will be impacted – please check your service with your local provider for updates on changes.
