Eastbound directional road closure Poole Road and closure of Cromer Road junction for essential gas main replacement
From Monday 25 May for approximately nine weeks, our specialist contractors I&G Contractors Limited will be completing essential gas main replacement on Poole Road from the Pottery Junction Roundabout to Cromer Road. This work is crucial to ensure we can continue to maintain a safe and efficient gas supply and avoid further gas leaks in the future.
Due to the location of the gas pipe and large excavations required in the road, for everyone’s safety, a temporary eastbound road closure will need to be in place between the Pottery Junction roundabout and Cromer Road. The closure will be installed overnight on Monday 25 May with work commencing on Tuesday 26 May.
What will this closure mean:
- No vehicles will be able to travel eastbound from Pottery Junction on the Roundabout to past Cromer Road
- No vehicle access in and out of Cromer Road with Poole Road – Cromer Road will be closed at its junction with Poole Road
- Vehicle access for off-road car parking within the closure will be maintained, with access from the westbound carriageway only
- Westbound vehicle traffic will remain unaffected
- Pedestrian and cycle access will be maintained
- Bin collection for properties located within the closure will remain unchanged unless you hear otherwise from the local authority
Parking restrictions will be in place for the duration of the work
Poole Road: no parking - no waiting/loading/unloading at any time from the property boundary of Nos. 451/453 to the property boundary of Nos. 463/465
Ashley Road: no parking - no waiting/loading/unloading at any time - from the property boundary of Nos. 7/9 to the property boundary of Nos. 19/21
Important information about bus routes
Eastbound bus routes will be affected - we advise passengers to contact their service provider for the latest updates and changes to service.
Morebus services m1, m2, N1, N2, 16 and 18, together with some school bus services, will be unable to use Poole Road between Branksome and Westbourne. This means some services will also be unable to use Ashley Road between Waitrose and Branksome. Please visit the Morebus website here for more details.
We appreciate how disruptive this road closure may be for the community and businesses. We assure you that our engineers will be doing everything they can to complete this work as quickly and as safely as possible.
