Due to the condition of the affected pipes in Station Road, our engineers need to replace this section of our gas network following recent attempts to make the required repairs.
This urgent work needs to go ahead now to ensure the continued safe and reliable supply of gas to Rainham residents and businesses.
The pipe replacement work will begin on Wednesday 13 July and it is expected to last approximately seven weeks.
We'll start our work in Lower Rainham Road. To ensure everyone's safety, we need to close a section of Lower Rainham Road outside the Angel Public House. Motorists will be unable to turn left from Station Road.
Signed diversion routes are in place for affected road users.
Access will be maintained for residents only. Temporary traffic lights are in operation to ensure residents can safely enter and exit their properties around our closure area.
Once this initial phase of work is completed, we will need to close the whole junction to motorists to enable us access to safely replace the pipes in Station Road. We'll provide updates on our progress on this page.
We understand people can get frustrated by roadworks. However, the new plastic pipe has a lifespan of around 80 years, which means that when the work in Station Road is complete, Rainham residents and businesses will be able to enjoy the benefits of a safe and reliable gas supply for many years to come.
