Ringwood, Gorley Road

From Monday 1 July, our contractors JDT will be working to replace the gas main on roads in Ringwood. These essential works involve replacing old metal gas pipes with new plastic pipes to ensure we can continue to maintain a safe and efficient gas supply to residents and the wider community.

For everyone's safety around our work area, we have planned our work in the following phases:

Phases one and two:

Fairlie and Link Road closed from Monday 1 July to Monday 22 July

Phase one

Fairlie closed between its junctions with Gorley Road and Link Road.

Phase two

Fairlie and Link Road closed from the junction of Fairlie Park to Gorley Road.

Phases three to seven:

Northfield Road and Gorley Road closed from Monday 22 July to Friday 30 August

Phase three

Northfield Road closed from the junction of Gorley Road to the junction of Forest Side Gardens.

Gorley Road closed from the junction of Northfield Road to the junction of Butlers Lane.

Phase four

Gorley Road closed from junction of Fairlie to Linford Road.

Junctions of Fairlie and Butlers Lane will be closed with no vehicle access to Gorley Road from these junctions.

Phase five

Gorley Road closed from the junction of Parkers Close to the junction of the trunk road to Southampton Road.

Phase six

Gorley Road closed from the junction of Peachhaven to Southampton Road, with the trunk road to Southampton Road closed.

Phase seven

Gorley Road junction closed in line with temporary two-way traffic lights on Southampton Road.

The junction of Gorley Road with Southampton Road will be temporarily closed.

Parking restrictions will be in place and the bus stop will be suspended.

Important information

For each phase, there will be no through vehicle access – signed diversion routes will be in place.

Access for residents within closure areas will be maintained – our engineers will keep residents informed about local access arrangements within the closures, which will change as the work progresses.

Once the new gas main has been installed, properties with gas supplies will need their gas service transferred to the new main. Our engineers will need access to properties and will need to briefly interrupt their gas supplies to carry out the necessary safety checks. Affected properties will receive further information about this and the team will liaise directly to make local arrangements. No supplies will be interrupted without prior notice.

We understand how disruptive our work can be for local communities, particularly when road closures are involved. We only close roads when there is no other safe alternative. By replacing this old gas main we can reinforce the safety of our gas network, and avoid gas escapes and disruptive emergency repairs.

We’ll be providing regular updates on the progress of this essential project on this webpage.

We're sorry for any inconvenience our work may cause and thank you for your patience and understanding.
