Rochester, Commissioners Road

We'll shortly start essential work to upgrade our network in the Medway City Estate area to ensure local businesses continue to receive a safe and reliable supply of gas.

From Monday 20 June, and for approximately five weeks, our engineers will be upgrading our pipes in Commissioners Road and Whitehall Road.

To ensure everyone's safety, we need to close sections of these roads to motorists while we carry out this work.

Commissioners Road will be closed between its junctions with Whitehall Road and Wingrove Drive. While Whitehall Road will also be closed around the junction with Commissioners Road.

Signed diversions will be in place for affected motorists. However, access to businesses around our closure area will be maintained - temporary traffic lights will be in operation to ensure vehicles can safely access these properties.

We're working collaboratively with UK Power Networks to ensure disruption is minimised in this location. Their engineers will begin working in Commissioners Road once we have completed our gas network upgrades towards the end of July.

We understand roadworks can be frustrating. However, the new plastic pipe has a minimum lifespan of 80 years. This means that Rochester businesses will be able to enjoy the benefits of a safe and reliable gas supply for many years to come.
