From Monday 16 March until May 2027, our engineers will be carrying out an extensive programme of work to replace the gas mains in various roads in Ryde. These works are essential to ensure we can avoid disruptive gas leaks in the future and continue to maintain a safe and efficient gas supply to residents, businesses, and the local community.
Due to the location of the gas pipes in the road, we will need to have various traffic management measures in place, including temporary road closures and traffic lights to allow us to safely complete these works.
Our programme of work and the traffic management measures are as follows:
Please note these dates may change - progress is dependent on a number of factors such as the condition of the gas main and service connections to properties. We will ensure residents are informed and will provide regular updates here and through your local councillors.

Important information
Phases of work with road closures will mean:
- No through vehicle access within the road closure – signed diversions will be in place
- Vehicle access to properties within the closure will be maintained – our teams will keep those affected residents informed of local access arrangements
- Bus routes may be affected – we advise passengers to contact their service provider for the latest update/changes to services
- Bin collection days will remain unchanged unless you are advised otherwise by your service provider
Residents on all roads immediately affected by these works will receive further communications.
We understand our work and temporary road closures may be disruptive and we assure you our engineers will be working as quickly and as safely as possible to complete these works.
