Road Closure – Devizes Road, Salisbury for Essential Gas Main Replacement
From Monday 12 October, we'll start work to replace old metal gas pipes in the Devizes Road area of Salisbury for approximately 22 weeks.
These works have been planned to follow on from Highways works on the roundabout; they are essential to ensure we can continue to provide residents and the local community with a safe and reliable gas supply and avoid disruptive gas leaks in the future.
Due to the location of the gas pipe within the road, for everyone’s safety we will need to complete these works under phased road closures. The durations below are for guidance; these may change as works progress. Advance signage will keep locals and road users updated; we will also have updates of phase changes on our website.
Phase 1 – Junction of Gas Lane to Access to Shops Devizes Road (towards St Pauls Roundabout) – Approx four weeks
Phase 2 – Junction of Gas Lane to junction Clifton Road – three weeks
Phase 3 – Clifton Road to the junction of Ashley Road – three weeks
Phase 4 – Ashley Road to the junction of Kingsland Road – three weeks
Phase 5 – Kingsland Road to the junction of Highfield Road – five weeks
Phase 6 – Gas Lane Road from the junction of Devizes Road to the junction with Coldharbour Lane – four weeks
These road closures will mean:
- No through vehicle access past the closures in either direction – access along Devizes Road will be maintained on either side of the closure
- Vehicle access to properties located within the closure will be maintained; residents affected will be kept informed regarding their access arrangements
- Pedestrian and cycle access will be maintained through the works – cyclists may need to dismount and walk through where there is no space on the road to cycle
Bus routes will be affected – we’d advise passengers to contact their service provider for the latest updates/changes to service.
We appreciate these road closures will be disruptive for residents; we can assure you our engineers will be working as quickly and as safely as possible to complete these essential works.
