Southampton, Coxford Road area

Update - Wednesday 21 May

From Monday 26 May we’ll be working to upgrade our gas network in the Coxford Road area of Southampton. This work will involve replacing our old, metal pipes with new longer longer-lasting plastic ones, to ensure local homes and businesses continue to receive a reliable gas supply.

The work will continue for six weeks, and so barring any unforeseen circumstances, will be completed on Friday, 4 July.

We’ll be replacing the gas main between the junction of Dunvegan Drive to the junction of Dunkirk Road.  Due to the location of the gas main in the road, and for everyone’s safety, we’ll need to close the road. The closure will start at Dunvegan Drive and will roll along the road in sections to completion at Dunkirk Road.

This closure will mean:

  • No through vehicle access along Coxford Road in either direction past the location of the closure
  • Vehicle access for residents to properties within the closure, including side roads, will be maintained – our site team will keep residents informed of local access arrangements as these will change as the closure moves along the road.  Pedestrian and cycle access will be maintained
  • Bin collection days will remain unchanged, unless you hear otherwise from your service provider

Bus routes may be affected – we’d advise passengers to contact their service provider for the latest information about changes to their service.

We appreciate how disruptive road closures are for residents and road users. Our engineers are committed to doing everything they can to complete these works as quickly and as safely as possible.

If you have any specific questions regarding these works, please contact our customer service team at customer@sgn.co.uk.

We’re sorry for the inconvenience this closure will cause, and thank local people for their patience and understanding.
