From Monday 21 July our specialist contractor, I&G Contractors Limited, will be working to upgrade the gas network on Thursley Road, Godalming. The work will be ongoing for approximately nine weeks.
These essential works will involve replacing an old, metal pipe with a new longer longer-lasting plastic one so that we can continue to provide businesses and the wider community with a safe and efficient gas supply.
During this project, it has been agreed that Thursley Road will be closed to traffic from outside Heathfield Close to the junction of Red House Lane. The closure will be in place for the duration of the work, and signed diversions will be in place. Access will be maintained for residents. The diversion will follow: Milford Road - A3 Milford junction - A3 at Hindhead junction - Portsmouth Road (A333) - Tilford road (A287) - Thursley Road - Pitch Place - Thursley Road.
For ease, the work will be carried out in phases, and access to properties within the closure will be from the village. Anyone travelling north towards the village will need to use the diversion until the work is past Beacon View Road. We have communicated with residents over this project.

Bus routes will be affected, and passengers should contact their local providers for information on changes to bus stops and routes. We are working with the school bus providers and will provide an update as soon as a plan is in place for the start of the new term.
We appreciate our work, and necessary traffic management can be disruptive for local road users, and we’d like to reassure the local community that our team will be doing all they can to complete these works as safely and as quickly as possible.
If you have any specific questions regarding these works, please contact our customer service team at customer@sgn.co.uk.
We’re sorry for the inconvenience this work will cause and thank local people for their patience and understanding.
