Wandsworth, Earlsfield Road

We are currently working on Heathfield Road as part of our work to upgrade the gas network in Wandsworth. This work commenced on 21 July and is set to continue for 12 weeks, during which time a rolling road closure from the junction with Heathfield Square to the junction of Magdelin Road will be in place.

This is in addition to work ongoing in the local area, and more information can be found here: Wandsworth, Earlton Road

Once this section of work is complete, we will start the next section of work to replace the pipe in Earlsfield Road.

These essential works involve replacing old, metal pipes with new longer-lasting plastic ones so that we can continue to provide businesses and the wider community with a safe and efficient gas supply.

Where will our engineers be working?

  • Earlsfield Road (29 September for approximately eight weeks)

Our engineers will start work on Earlsfield Road, beginning at the junction of Heathfield Road. Temporary two-way lights will be in place to allow the traffic to flow safely past our work site.

In order to maintain traffic flow in the area whilst ensuring the safety of everyone around the worksite, Heathfield Road will be closed at both its junctions with Earlsfield Road. Local diversions will be in place and work at the Heathfield Road junction is expected to take approximately 4 weeks.

We will then move down Earlsfield Road, towards the junction of St Ann’s Hill. A closure of the junction of St Ann’s Hill with Earlsfield Road will be in place while we work, and this is expected to take approximately 4 weeks.

Access will be maintained for anyone who lives within the closures, and a diversion route will be available. St Ann’s Hill will only be closed once Heathfield Road has reopened.

What does this mean for you?

  • If your property is within the road closure, access will be maintained. Please speak to our engineers about any specific requirements you may have.
  • Please ensure that delivery drivers and visitors know about the road closure and traffic lights to allow them to factor in additional delivery time.
  • Please check with your local bus company to be aware of any delayed buses or suspended bus stops.
  • Please allow additional time for your journeys.

Phase two of this project will be completed at a later date, and communication will follow once dates are known.
