Update - Friday 25 July
Our gas network upgrades along Bow Road are progressing well. We've replaced our old pipes from its junction with A26 Tonbridge Road to just past the junction with Leney Road so far. Our engineers will continue Bow Road to just short of the junction with Waterside Mews.
Bow Road will remain closed for the duration of our work, but we will be moving the closure point away from the junction of A26 Tonbridge Road to the other side of Leney Road on Monday 28 July.
This will allow access only for residents and businesses from A26 Tonbridge Road as far as and into Leney Road. The diversion route will need to be followed for residents and businesses the other side of our closure point.
All being well, we are on schedule to complete this work by Sunday 31 August.
We thank Wateringbury residents and businesses for their continued patience while we complete this essential work to provide a safe and reliable supply of gas to the area.
We're carrying out essential upgrades to our gas network in the Bow Road area. This work has been planned in close consultation with the local authority l and will ensure a continued safe and reliable gas supply to nearby homes and businesses.
Working to keep you safe and warm
What we're doing
Our engineering team is replacing old metallic mains with modern plastic pipe which has a lifespan of 80 years.
When we'll be working
Our project will start on Monday 23 June and will last for approximately 12 weeks.
Where we'll be working
We'll be replacing approximately 900m of old gas main along Bow Road and upgrading around 60 service pipes to adjoining properties.
Our engineers will be working in sections between Waterside Mews and Tonbridge Road.
To ensure everyone's safety, we need to close Bow Road to motorists between these junctions. The closure point will move as we progress down the road.
In consultation with Kent County Council, Nettlestead Lane will also be shut at its junction with Park Road for the duration of the project. This is to prevent motorists from using it as a shortcut as it is not suitable for heavy volumes of traffic.
Affected motorists should follow the signed diversions in place.
