Road Closure – Dorchester Road, Weymouth DT3 5HU for Essential Gas Main Replacement
From Monday 19 October, we'll be replacing a section of gas main along Dorchester Road. These works will take approximately 15 weeks to complete and are essential to ensure we can continue to provide residents and the local community with a safe and reliable gas supply.
Due to the location of the gas pipe within the road, and to ensure the safety of our workforce and the public, the following traffic management arrangements will be required:
Phase One - From Monday 19 October to 20 December
Road Closure - Dorchester Road will be closed between the junctions of Milton Terrace and Monmouth Avenue.
This will mean:
- No through vehicle access past the closure on Dorchester Road in either direction. A signed diversion route will be in place.
- Vehicle access to properties located within the closure will be maintained where possible. Our site team will keep residents informed of local access arrangements.
- Pedestrian and cyclist access will be maintained through the closure.
- Bin collection days will remain unchanged unless residents are advised otherwise by their service provider.
Phase Two – From 04th January to 19 March
One-Way Northbound Directional Road Closure - A one-way northbound closure will be in place on Dorchester Road between Monmouth Avenue and Icen Road.
This will mean:
- Vehicles will not be able to travel northbound on Dorchester Road between Spa Avenue and Roman Close.
- Access to properties within the closure will be maintained via the southbound lane.
- Pedestrian access will be maintained. Cyclists will be required to dismount and walk through the works area, as no northbound carriageway space will be available.
Bus Services
Bus services will be affected by these works. We recommend passengers contact their bus operator directly for the latest information regarding route changes and temporary arrangements.
