Tunbridge Wells, Pembury Road

We're preparing to return to the Pembury Road area of Tunbridge Wells to finish our gas network upgrade project which originally started in summer 2023.

Our engineers discovered an additional 200m of metal gas main supplying several properties along Grovehurst, off Pembury Road. There was insufficient time to carry out this section of work before the end of that school summer holiday period and needed to be replanned for a later date.

How will this work impact me?

Although most of our work will be carried out in Grovehurst, our engineers need to excavate on Pembury Road to connect the new plastic pipe to the network.

To safely complete this work, we need to install temporary traffic lights around our site on Pembury Road. These lights will be in place from Friday 4 April for approximately two weeks.

Please allow additional time for your journeys while our temporary lights are in operation.

This work has been agreed following close consultation with Kent County Council.

To help minimise disruption, we've agreed to carry out this work during the school Easter holidays when the roads are typically quieter.

We recognise roadworks can be frustrating, and we're sorry for any inconvenience this essential work may cause. However, the new plastic pipe has a lifespan of 80 years, which means when the work is complete, nearby residents and businesses will be able to enjoy the benefits of a safe and reliable gas supply long into the future.
