Issues with your gas meter?

If you have an issue with your gas meter, call your gas supplier. Their number will be on your energy bill.

If you don’t know who your gas supplier is, you can visit Find My Supplier and enter your details to find out.

Gas appliance or boiler issues?

If you have problems with your gas appliances or your boiler, you should contact your gas supplier, gas boiler service provider or a Gas Safe registered engineer.

Keep their details handy in case you need them.

Power cut?

Call 105 if you have a power cut.

You can find out more at www.powercut105.com.

If your boiler has stopped working in the cold, check if your boiler’s condensate pipe has frozen.

Cold weather can freeze the condensate pipe, which is the external pipe that takes condensation from your boiler to your drain outside.

Find out how to safely check and thaw your condensate pipe.

Follow NHS and Government advice

  • Heat rooms that you use to at least 18°C
  • Try to reduce draughts
  • Keep your bedroom windows closed at night
  • Wear several layers of thinner clothing

There's more advice on the Government website.

Check your radiators

  • Move furniture away from radiators
  • Turn radiators off in unused rooms
  • Close the doors to keep the heat in

Service your appliances

Make sure your gas boiler and appliances are serviced every year by a Gas Safe registered engineer

Be Carbon Monoxide aware

CO is a highly poisonous gas that is produced by the incomplete burning of fossil fuels, including gas.

You should have a Carbon Monoxide alarm and test it regularly. It's also important to know what to do if you suspect Carbon Monoxide poisoning.
