SGN joins energy industry to take hydrogen roadshow to party conferences

Our team will be on-hand at the political party conferences this month to demonstrate hydrogen’s potential to create jobs and decarbonise the UK economy.

Alongside Britain’s energy industry, we’re exhibiting on the Beyond 2050 stand to showcase how the industry could deliver jobs, energy security, investment and decarbonisation through hydrogen. The stand is part of each conference’s Hydrogen Zone, featuring a diverse group of businesses and world-leading examples of UK hydrogen projects and technologies.

Our Head of External Affairs Joss Clarke said: “We’re supporting the Hydrogen Zone to send a clear signal to government and all political parties that hydrogen has the potential to play a significant role in our journey to net zero, whilst at the same time generating  significant investment and creating thousands of new jobs."

Government figures indicate the hydrogen sector could support over 12,000 jobs and unlock more than £9 billion in private investment by the end of this decade. It is also the most likely decarbonisation solution for energy-intensive industries, plus will have a key role in reducing emissions from transport and heat.

We’ll be discussing our ambitions and ongoing activities to replace natural gas in our network with hydrogen. Most notably, our world-first green hydrogen project, H100 Fife, where approximately 300 Levenmouth homes will be connected to hydrogen produced from renewable energy.

Conservative party conference attendees can visit us at stands 314 and 412 between Sunday 1 and Wednesday 4 October, while delegates at the Labour party conference can find us at stand 41 between Sunday 8 and Wednesday 11 October.
